The growing size of cargo ships and tankers puts pressure on using the fairway depths to the fullest extent. Fairway design plays a key role in securing safe and efficient seafaring.
The service can cover the entire design process from the first drafts of required official documentation all the way to the final documents required for official approval for a completed fairway or port area. Meritaito can even take control of the entire process from designing the port or fairway to construction project management and contract supervision.
Meritaito has extensive experience of fairway designing in challenging conditions e.g. narrow and shallow waterways in an arctic climate. The Meritaito design team has experience from design projects regarding dozens of fairways and channels with a combined length of hundreds of kilometers.
The fairway itself – especially in Finland – is in a core role when accessing or departing a port. This possibly intelligent fairway can reduce many of the points highlighted in the 2030 vision. But it really has to be intelligent. We at Meritaito have analyzed this vision and validated the need from the fairway owners and users where as a reflection to this we created a project called InSea – Intelligent Sea
